Café managers, Linda Barker and David Doery have combined over twenty five years of experience in the hospitality industry. With their combined talent, they have opened Samford Villages’ new Flying Nun café, where fine food and artistic endeavour feature in a stunning new venue in the old Uniting Church, adjacent to the renowned Urban Dweller.
The café building includes a colourful mosaic tiled and lead lighted extension and is set in a rainforest garden, home to an intriguing range of sculptures and artefacts as well as Jasper, the blue and gold macaw, whose amusing antics will keep you entertained while you eat and relax. A modern Australian menu includes scrumptious cakes and desserts freshly made on the premises. Enjoy fresh produce from The Nun's very own vegetable garden in dishes inspired from around the world.
Linda and David are committed to providing customers with a unique and memorable flavour adventure. “We change the menu every season to ensure variety,” they said.
“There’s always something different for the connoisseur of coffee shop culture", from roast duck risotto to chocolate beetroot cake. We spent six months researching coffees to find the perfect blend, which is produced by an Australian owned company using a global blend containing fair trade coffee.”
David said he wanted to create an eclectic, fun atmosphere that could complement Sapote Salon’s friendly reputation. “We want to provide our customers with nourishment on every level, not just with great food but a very warm and welcoming environment,” he said. “So while away time listening to world music piped through the garden, settle into some comfortable felted cushions – it’s the perfect location to catch up with friends and family.”
Our head chef is Nathan Ayre who has a modern approach to dining.
